Stylistic Architectural Details

Typically it's the smallest things that make the biggest difference. And these architectural details are no exception.

Frank Lloyd Wright meets Italian piazza. This spectacular stone archway incorporates the rural casualness of stone with the crisp, minimalist lines popularized by the great architect himself. Adding an element of visual surprise, a curved section of roofline echoes the arch's rounded shape creating a balance for the structure's otherwise purely angular design.

Geometry in motion, this doorway's appeal is its deceptive simplicity. Formed almost exclusively from squares, the meticulously planned interlocking patterns give a visual impression of multiple shapes and layers. Leaded glass panels balance the solidity of the heavy timber frame and coolness of exterior tile stepping-stones. Ambient lighting accentuates the dark-stained wood's richness and helps focus attention on one of the smallest details -- a carefully placed, amber insert in each glass panel.

This modern window seems perfectly at home set against an Old World style stone wall. Accent rock from the landscaping appears to fly out of the ground, erupting in some private, exuberant celebration of life. Shrubbery brings a touch of forest green and autumn golds to the muted grays.
