Gallery Style Brightens Contemporary Great Room

This contemporary great room has a gallery feel, thanks to off-white walls that provide a dramatic backdrop for leather furniture, ethnic art and gleaming granite counters.

The floor space is divided into several conversation areas.

Four rust-colored leather tub chairs occupy center stage, grouped around a circular coffee table on an area rug woven in geometric shapes of sage green, rust and tan.

To one side, a semi-circular wet bar is surrounded by comfortable upholstered stools. A horseshoe of halogen lights shines down from the dropped ceiling overhead. The tan-colored stools complement light maple cabinets in the bar area and in the adjacent kitchen.

A more formal eating area is located beside the kitchen where a glass-topped table and high-backed chairs provide additional seating for eight.

Activities flow easily from one part of the great room to another and can even extend to the outdoors where a spacious rear patio offers additional space for entertaining.

All of the windows and doors have been left bare, allowing natural light to flood the room by day. At night, decorative outdoor lighting visually expands the room to include the surrounding gardens.
