Above Garage Craft Room

What could be unusable space under several sections of the steeply pitched ceiling has been cleverly turned into a visually appealing feature. Two banks of custom-built chests of drawers provide convenient storage for various craft and kid essentials ¾ dried flowers, balloons, pom poms, and wool. Glass inserts not only make it easy to see what’s inside each drawer, but allow the content’s color and interesting shapes to actually become part of the room’s decoration.

When not in use, the sewing machine and notions storage chest roll neatly under another section of the angled roof. There’s also space to keep bolts of fabric readily available and visible — a large wicker basket ensures they stand upright without detracting from the airy ambiance of the room.

Dual ceiling fans augment the room’s natural airflow helping to keep the temperature cool in summer and re-circulate the warmth in winter.
